Julieta António is PhD in Civil Engineering from the Faculty of Sciences and Technology, University of Coimbra (2002, Portugal). She is Associated Professor at the University of Coimbra and her teaching activities include courses in the areas of Acoustics, Sustainability and Mechanics. Researcher in the areas of Building Sciences, Construction Sustainability, Wave propagation, Acoustics, Boundary Element Method, Meshless Methods, she has published a considerable number of scientific papers in international journals and in proceedings of international conferences, notably in the area of wave propagation and acoustics. She has reviewed papers for various international journals. She has participated / is participating in several research projects, is a member of the scientific and organizing committees of national and international conferences and participates in a European standardization committee in the field of Acoustics. At Itecons, she is Member of the Board of Directors; she is Technical and Scientific Supervisor, responsible for several projects and accredited laboratory tests and she is the Executive Coordinator of the Training and Events Unit.
Nuno Simões, PhD in Civil Engineering, Senior Scientific and Technical Researcher at Itecons and Assistant Professor in the Civil Engineering Department of the University of Coimbra. Area of expertise is Construction Sciences, namely Building physics, Energy performance of buildings, Moisture and Heat Transfer, Materials behaviour, Boundary Element Method. Has been a Senior Scientific and Technical Researcher at Itecons since 2006. Researcher in 27 Collaborative Research & Technological Development Projects (13 as Principal Investigator (PI)). Participated in the task group to define the national methodology used in the National System for Energy and Indoor Air Quality Certification of Residential Buildings and was the coordinator of the Executive Committee of the task group set by the Portuguese General Directorate for Energy and Geology (DGEG) and the Portuguese Energy Agency (ADENE) to review the national building thermal regulation codes (RCCTE). Member of CERIS - Civil Engineering Research and Innovation for Sustainability.
National qualified trainer and expert of the National System for Energy and Indoor Air Quality Certification. Has published more than 65 papers in Scientific Journals and presented more than 170 communications at Conferences. He has supervised more than 55 Master dissertations and 6 PhD theses.
Romeu Vicente is a Full Professor at the Department of Civil Engineering at the University of Aveiro. He teaches subjects in the areas of Building Physics and Technology, Pathology and Rehabilitation on the curriculum of the Bachelor's, Master's and PhD degrees in Civil Engineering. He was the Director of the Doctoral Programme in Civil Engineering (Out 2018- May 2020) and later the Vice-Director. Since Feb 2020 he is the Coordinator of the Research Unit - RISCO at UA. His academic contributions extend to 140+ journal articles and the coordination of 15 R&D projects, focusing on the field of building physics and technology, decarbonization measures for construction, as well as in retrofitting of existing buildings and risk assessment, topics strongly related to his teaching activities. He has supervised 15 PhD students and has 8 ongoing. He is a member of CEN Technical Committees CT 171 - Sustainability in buildings and CT 115/SC6 - Structural Eurocodes and is a member of the RILEM group 299-TES and Founder of the Passivhaus Zero Energy Association - PT Platform.
