To travel to Aveiro, you can fly either to Porto or Lisbon and then continue your journey by train, express bus, or rental car.

Train timetables and ticket information are available on the Portuguese Railways website (CP). Long-distance express bus services to Aveiro are operated by several companies, including Rede Expressos and FlixBus.

Portugal has an excellent motorway network, making travel by car convenient. Rental cars are available at both airports, railway stations, and in all major cities.

The international airports of Porto and Lisbon offer regular scheduled flights to and from the main European destinations, as well as many other cities.

Francisco Sá Carneiro Airport (Porto - OPO): approximately 85 km

Humberto Delgado Airport (Lisbon - LIS): approximately 255 km

Aveiro enjoys excellent rail and road connections with both Porto and Lisbon. Information about flights to Portugal's international airports is available through ANA - Aeroportos de Portugal.

How to get to Aveiro from Porto Airport

From Francisco Sá Carneiro Airport (OPO), you can reach Porto Campanhã Railway Station by Metro (Line E - Violet), taxi, or ride-hailing service. From Campanhã, frequent speed trains (Alfa Pendular or Intercidades) connect Porto to Aveiro Railway Station. The train journey takes approximately 35-45 minutes, depending on the service.

By car, Aveiro is approximately 1 hour from Porto Airport via the A1 or A29 motorways.

If you choose an express bus service, you will arrive at the Bus Terminal which is located right next to the Aveiro Railway Station.

How to get to Aveiro from Lisbon Airport

From Humberto Delgado Airport (LIS), travel to Lisboa Oriente Railway station by Metro (red line), taxi, or ride-hailing service. From there, frequent speed trains (Alfa Pendular or Intercidades) reach the Aveiro Railway Station. The journey takes approximately 2 hours.

By car, Aveiro is approximately 2 hours and 30 minutes from Lisbon via the A1 motorway.

If you choose an express bus service, you will arrive at the Bus Terminal which is located right next to the Aveiro Railway Station.

Local Transportation

Taxi services and ride-hailing platforms, including Uber and Bolt, operate throughout Aveiro and provide convenient transportation between railway/bus stations, hotels, and the conference venue. Local public bus transportation is also available.

The compact layout of Aveiro also makes walking an attractive option for delegates staying in the city centre.

Visa Information

Participants requiring a visa to enter Portugal are encouraged to contact the nearest Portuguese Embassy or Consulate well in advance of their planned travel.

Upon request, the Conference Secretariat may issue an official Letter of Invitation to support visa applications. Please note that invitation letters are provided solely for visa purposes and only after abstract submission, review and acceptance for presentation at the conference.
